They are chock full of information, facts and interactive activities along with events. There are suggestions on how you can get involved, and as we like to say "Make Waves" for positive change! If you love water and want to learn more about it and its importance to our planet, take a look at some of these organizations. Working to protect the oceans from today's greatest challenges. Tackling issues and solving some of the greatest threats facing our oceans today. This is a place where you can learn about all things ocean, how you can take action, be inspired and even sign up for a weekly trivia quiz. NOAA – National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
This organization “educates the nation about the true value of water. They are dedicated to building a sustainable water future for all using “One Water” strategies. One Water is an innovative, inclusive and integrated approach to water stewardship. Learn about their approach, programs like “Value Water Campaign” and check out the “Imagine a Day Without Water” Challenge they support.
Having already protected nearly 4 million square miles of the ocean this international non-profit is dedicated to protecting and restoring our oceans on a global level. Oceana’s site has plenty of information to keep your attention. One favorite is their Explore the Marine Life Encyclopedia, it has great photos and fun facts about your favorite marine animals.
A local organization that protects the Long Island Sound and it’s rivers by leading environmental action. They fight climate change, protect clean water, restore ecosystems and protect surrounding lands. Having just moved into this area we were excited to learn about Save the Sound at a recent event we attended. We have just added this non-profit to our monthly donations. You can find all kinds of interesting information including the current cases they are working on, their historic victories, their coastal cleanups and their “Save the Sound Impact Map”. The map is interactive and you can click on and learn about their 200+ efforts to improve the Long Island Sound.
